MATTEO RANDI MOSAICS

Classes & Workshops

Would you like to make your own mosaic using the traditional method?

We offer both evening classes and 5-day workshops -- something for every schedule, whether you live locally or would like to take a week-long artistic retreat!

Evening Course
During this course students will be instructed in the Ravenna technique and will learn to use the same tools and materials used by craftsmen over 2000 years ago: the hammer and hardy; marble and smalti.  Students will complete a mosaic in the traditional style to take home.

Workshops
During the workshop students learn to use the traditional tools and materials, as described above.

Traditional: Participants complete two mosaics, one in the traditional style using the Ravenna technique, and one in a style of choice using the direct technique.

Table: Participants create a mosaic using the Ravenna technique; the mosaic is then installed into a small table.

Mirror:  Using the direct technique, participants complete a mirror frame (mirror included). *** This is a 3-day workshop.***

Evening Course Schedule

Courses begin weekly and run for a total of 8 sessions.

The evening courses meet two times each week, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6:30pm-9:30pm.

Workshop Schedule
Unless otherwise noted, workshops consist of 3 or 5 consecutive days of instruction, beginning Mondays. Each day will begin at 9am and end at 5:30pm, with a lunch break midday.
